@Deltaneutral, players are being encouraged to make much more subtle movements. Exaggerated motion will probably work fine for most cases, but what we have been seeing is definitely for marketing only.
The May 5 video submitted by Riekert is interesting. Activision stresses how many copies of the CoD franchise has been sold--but one thing to keep in mind that almost all of these expansions were on PC. Traditionally console translations of successful PC FPS franchises have not been that successful (look at Unreal). Although, CoD2 did well on Xbox 360, I think it is premature to drop the PC market entirely. However, with the new struggle feature enabled by the Wii controller (seen at the end of the video), consoles add new things that can't be done with a mouse and keyboard.
It will be interesting to see when the Wii actually comes out how much of these photos and videos are exaggerated and how much motion the Wii actually involves. There's a lot of stir recently that the motion sensing controller is more gimmick and marketing.
From what I've been reading about the game, it would appear the guy holding the controllers on the right side of the July 11 image submitted by Riekert is either overly exaggerating the controller movement or is just posing for a photo shoot. There shouldn't be any reason to be pointing the remote straight up by your head.
