@PhilHarrision, Yes, Motion+ will be bundled with other games, not just Sports Resort.
Things to consider : - Those other games, will have two SKU. One bundled with Motion+, one without Motion+. - Wii Sports Resort are only available bundled with Motion+. No non-bundled SKU. - Wii Sports Resort expanded upon Wii Sports, a game that are bundled with every Wii sold in Europe and US, and achieve very good sales in Japan. I EXPECT people who have Wii Sports to be interested in Wii Sports Resort (similarity of name, and intensive use of Mii). How many of those Wii Sports userbase buy Wii Sports Resort, your guess is as good as mine.
Are the sales projections here based on this being a bundle with Wii Motion Plus?
Rumour has it that WMP is being bundled with more that just this game so would that not cut down on the potential sales (ie this isn't another WiiPlay scenario)?
@soupsoup, I forget exactly how the old IPO system worked, but I think it had the same stage 1 and then stage 2 was based off the trading in stage 1 and was also fixed amount. Anyone remember?
KoC was trying to get this new system to scale faster.
To me random starts could help by spreading the opportunities to all users. I don't think it would need to be made public in advance because then someone might then still be able to get on the site earlier and snatch up all the shares.
Another thing that might help is to place advance orders. After stage 1 you could put advance orders into the system that would not be cleared out (I think it clears out all orders put in during stage 1 after stage 1 ends).
So if it ends at 3000 orders bought during stage 1 at 10000, it could allow you to put in an advance order at anything about that. This would work best if it stated what value it would debut at after stage 1.
Multiple stages based on adjustments before each one might work. I like the idea.
It does, but I don't know if it scales fast enough yet. Even if it did I think one to a few users are still being able to take advantage of it, which is why I like random starts say 12am-11:59pm.
I wonder if it could scale faster if we were allowed more than that 250k limit.
@Joe80, The stock was trading above 1900 when I got here about an hour after the IPO ended. If it was anything like other recent IPOs most of the trading probably took place in the first few seconds.
This isn't really a new problem, it was happening with the old IPO system as well. I agree that random start times would be fairer, as long as the time is made public in advance so that there's competition for the initial shares. The main problem though is that one IPO phase is not enough for the market maker to make a decision about the starting price. Would adding an extra phase or two and adjusting the price after each help?
Also, since you mentioned it: I think the market maker already spaces out its orders more in the early stages, so people may not be getting as much invested as you think. I'm not absolutely certain that's the case, but it has seemed that way to me the times I've been here.
@apujanata, I see. So you got more than 250k invested during the IPO? That's something else that should be looked at - the ability to set up orders in advanced trading mode and go beyond the 250k limit.
@soupsoup, My big profit yesterday came NOT from investing by the time IPO ended and normal trading start. Therefore, I couldn't answer your question of starting price. We need KoC to answer that kind of question. Anyone going to contact KoC through "contact us" facility.
@Joe80, Even if you manage to get access when IPO hit normal trading timepoint, you only have 10 seconds - 60 seconds window to invest, especially if you are the prudent investor type, and the stock is hot (I couldn't remember the name of the stock, but it is something that is way undervalued or overvalued). I managed to login during that timepoint in two different occassion, and I can only invest about 200K (min) - 1 Million DKP (max, couldn't remember the exact amount, so I am going by memory, or IIRC), and I decided that changing my sleep period just to invest in it (time change from IPO to normal trading) is not worth it.
@soupsoup, I think it was 5-10 minutes before I posted. So you're saying it was higher than 1382 before I posted? I'd still like to try and figure out how much stocks are scaling after IPO stage 1, as someone could be pulling huge profits merely by trading after IPOS end.
I don't think that should occur it's basically a handicap to everyone else. I for one just about never can access when IPOs hit normal trading timepoint, which is why I think it should just be random the day of.
@Joe80, Roughly what time was it when you saw the price was 1382? If it was around the time of your first post then the stock had already been live for hours, unless I'm getting muddled with the timezones. It was much higher than that earlier on.
Can you give us an idea of the starting price, apujanata? By the time I got here you had already made a huge profit on it.
