So, what are the recent Tiger Woods goings-on going to mean for this? I made some quick money shorting some thousand shares of this... what are the current sales, and what can we reasonably expect for the future?
On Monday, enthusiastic gamer Jimmy Fallon announced that Tiger Woods would be on his show this Thursday, saying he wanted to play him on the Wii because it was the only way he would have a chance.
Today, EA confirmed to Kotaku that Woods has accepted the challenge and that the two would be playing rounds of golf on the Wii version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10.
Amazon seems to have changed availability of the bundle to in stock on June 15 (one week wait). If I didnt know any better, Amazon sold through their first shipment. It is currently in their top 10 bestsellers, so they are definitely moving quick.
@apujanata, I probably won't trade it at all unless it is really low. I generally don't trade Wii games unless they are made by Nintendo, huge titles, series I like, or quite under/overvalued. Also don't usually trade sports games unless highly under/overvalued. While I do think 2-4 million is possible, I also believe it's one of those things that may or may not occur so I can't rely on it.
@Joe80, If this game are traded, are you really willing to go long on it on 3 (average between 2 and 4) Million price point ? If yes, I am willing to short it at 3 Million price point :D.
The best case scenario for TWPT10 for me is 2 Million (even this figure is too optimistic, IMO), so 3 Million short means 33% profit potential, and I am willing to lower the profit margin from 40% to 33%.
@mrahaju, If Tiger Woods only does about 1 million each year, this bundled version could do considerably more, like 2-4 million. Also consider that people may want to experience Wii Motion Plus asap. Some may be growing tired of Wii Sports type games too. And in the UK EA's tennis game is also being bundled.
@PhilHarrision, It will not eat into potential Wii Sports resort, because : - there are non-bundle version - Tiger Woods are only about 1 million unit WW for each year, not tens of Millions like Halo 3 or MGS4. - Wii Sports Resort are released very quickly after Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 release data. I think it is only about one month between them.
EA has announced that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 and EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis for the Wii would be bundled with Nintendo's Wii remote fixing device upon launch in the UK. In North America, only Tiger Woods is getting the bundle treatment. With the UK versions of the two games jumping from £29.99 to £49.99 when sold in bundled form, we can most likely expect a slightly higher price point in North America as well.
