@mrahaju, according to MobyGames Vince Zampella was Chief Creative Officer since 2002 and Jason West was Chief Technology Officer since 2002 at IW. Whatever the reason for the firing, it doesn't bode well for the future of Activision's hottest franchise.
Jason West and Vince Zampella, two lead developers at Infinity Ward, met with Activision earlier today. Then they seemed to disappear and "bouncer-types" showed up at the studio. This Activision filing might explain why.
"The Company is concluding an internal human resources inquiry into breaches of contract and insubordination by two senior employees at Infinity Ward," "This matter is expected to involve the departure of key personnel and litigation."
Well they are two of the most anticipated sequels of 2009, so there is some merit in it. In any case, even if the trend doesn't carry over to other titles, it is definitely applicable to both MW2 and AC2 (the main reason that I placed it under PS3 MW2).
I said this on an industry forum. The logic in this conclusion is flawed. It's based on two games and on those who own both consoles, quite a small proportion of the overall userbase.
Statistically invalid for the sort of headlines it's creating.
Looking at the PS3 for a moment, I am not sure if the slim or the price is the reason for the upsurge with the PS3 sales. Maybe they needed to do both one on its own may not of been enough.
The 360 is not struggling in the same way the PS3 was perceived to be struggling so we have had the major price cut and will know doubt receive another adjustment and next year we may see the design change. I am fully expect some kind of new design even it is only a the fully integrated Natal version.
@welshbloke,I'm not writing anyone off. I think MS will end up as the #2 overall sales leader after the Wii when all is said in done. With that said, I think MS is not making the market movement they had hoped with their social integration (1 vs 100, avatar, now facebook, netflix etc.) All the points are nice but I don't think it is selling consoles or generating much revenue (well netflix probably is). They also still have the much deserved reputation for being the least reliable of the hardware, something that is getting hard to ignore for most consumers considering the pricing market.
I think the 360 needs a new look/refresh. I know that hasn't been their style in the past but it would make the hardware fresh again, even if all it is a new body with a fresh coat of paint.
This is misleading. In 2007 when AC was released very few x360 owners had a ps3($599!). With the ps3 price drop and 2 years later its likely a lot more people own both systems. I would guess dual owners will be buying mw2 on 360 and Ac on ps3.
More like Microsoft is forcing Natal on the media. With that said Natal has a chance to become wii-esque if they can launch at low price and of course hype it though the roof, something akin to Halo 3 marketing.
