The next time you fire up Halo 3 and connect to Xbox LIVE, you’re going to get a required title update. Update includes new achievements and a few small fixes.
Bungie issued a video acceptance speech at the Edge Awards earlier this month which sparked any number of rumors, including the addition of bots and support for Halo 3 single-player objects and NPCs being added to Forge. All of those dreams were shot down this past week as Bungie issued a denial on all of these rumors in its most recent Weekly Update.
As many people guessed, it's a remake of Lockout entitled Blackout. The Halo 3 Legendary DLC pack goes up on Live early in April. Will it put Halo 3 back at the top of the live charts over COD4 and bring people back to the game? Time will tell.
Meanwhile, the Heroic map pack is now free for all subscribers, yay!
What was once known as "Cottonball" is now "Avalanche." New additions include Man Cannons to facilitate infantry movement, a menagerie of vehicles to choose from (including a modified Hornet and the Scorpion tank. Other changes worth mentioning are the removal of ladders, the rear hallways connecting the bases, and the ability to throw the flag through the gate. The vehicles are dusted with a snow-covered skin.
New map from the legendary map pack revealed. "Avalanche" is a reimagination of Sidewinder from Halo: Combat Evolved. The map pack is due out April 15th for 800 MS Points ($10).
By now, chances seem reasonable that you’ve read over at MLGPro.com or some assorted news aggregate that MLG (Major League Gaming) will have a playlist exclusively dedicated to their competitive/tournament settings for Halo 3. The playlist is something we’ve been working closely with MLG on to ensure an authentic experience dictated by MLG for its Community and ours. Here’s some nuts and bolts about the playlist:
