I am so glad to see the marketing for Assassin's Creed start to pick up, and this video, for me, is very reassuring. For awhile, I was worried about the delays but this video puts all my doubts to rest. Can't wait for this game.
I have to step in and say the price of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) is getting a bit too optimistic. This game is not an exclusive, so it is splitting market share with the PS3 version.
Combined, the game is currently looking at 2.8 million copies, which seems high compared to the success of recent new IPs like Crackdown or Lost Planet that delivered much hype before launch and then fizzle after a month. I also believe the price differential between the 360 and PS3 versions is becoming too wide (80% now).
Check this out guys. Apparently Ubisoft is creating a short in-house flick for their new and fresh IP. I read this off of Kotaku but here is the source article of this information... http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/02/25/business/ubi.php.
This should be a really sweet movie. I think it'll be in the same class as FFVII:Advent Children, just way shorter and less confusing. Haha! Hope this will boost the popularity of this stock.
I was wrong on crackdown, but I honestly didn't think people would back out of it, what was I thinking, I guess I was way to optimistic because of the Halo Beta, whoops. I thought anything with the name "Halo" could gain the hype, looking at halo wars stock, I was wrong and apologize!
I do believe that this has the hype, if "250" is to much than 200 is too little, you can find the inbetween to that, just putting my two cents in heh.
I don't know too much about being an EASY 250 but I will say it's got potential. While in real world terms all of this would mean that potentially the game would have to sell X amount of copies, I'm lookin at Spore and thinking to myself, "Great game, perhaps it in it's own Wright will bring PC's from the plateau they've been at for two decades." I hope you got the Wright reference...it's just punny. Truth be told however that this game has a bit of hype and ultimately it's THAT which sells the units. The days before and after are upon the foundation that is set forth in marketing and development. And so far the Marketing has been nice, with a bit of an ease off of information (as is Ubi's way) until it's about ready to come out. I say it's got more than enough ability to hit 250 as long as any public or review based playtests come out slightly above average. And that's on any console across the board (save PC.) Optimistic...no. Likely..perhaps. Possible...definitely. -A
Hmmsphil...a little overoptimism? No Xbox 360 game other than Gears of War has even sold over 1.8 million copies. Didn't you also say Crackdown should be worth 350 DKP easy too? Almost no games sell that well, and betting an untested new IP will sell that well is just folly. Even Elder Scrolls IV and Call of Duty 3, time-tested franchises can't even make those levels. I'm thinking things should be what you claim divided by 2 =P.
