Ubisoft also had major announcements about two of its heavy hitters for the holiday season. First, it revealed that Assassin's Creed has sold--not shipped--over 1 million units worldwide in just one week. Currently available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the Ubisoft Montreal-developed actioner has received rave reviews by many gaming press outlets for its advanced graphics and deep storyline. (A PC version is due out early next year.)
@Just_Ben, I concur on your estimates for the break down of the ratio of the 360 and PS3 versions of Assassin's Creed. The ratio should be higher in the U.S. because of the very good success of the 360 compared to the PS3 than in Europe. This ratio will probably held this way unless the ratio of 360 to PS3 hardware sales begins to change more so.
In UK its 2:1 for the 360. 1.8 for whole Europe sounds right to me (southern countries support Sony more). It will not look that good for the PS3 in the US. 3:1 maybe?
@Just_Ben, I forgot to mention that, but by the numbers of hardware units for PS3 and 360, the majority are most likely for the 360 version. Going by that number they provided, it looks as though the predictions here are pretty good, but how the game performs the rest of the holiday season will be the biggest teller whether it will meet the current simExchange predictions.
Ubisoft released today in an official press release that Assassin's Creed has already had a sell through of over 1 million units (it is assumed that this number is obviously a worldwide total).
"Ubisoft's Assassins Creed has shot to the top of the UK all-formats charts and become the second fastest-selling new IP on an individual format behind 2002's The Getaway.
The Xbox 360 version of the game claims 67 per cent of sales, with the PlayStation 3 version taking the remaining 33 per cent. It also becomes the third fastest-selling Xbox 360 game within a weekly sales period."
