While I agree that the title is unlikely to randomly light up the sales charts, the title was in fact released in the UK on February 16th [1] and in other parts on March 9th [2].
This game needs to drop to around 11-13DKP. It has been out since January 2007 and has sold only 90,000 copies (9DKP). The game did not get a Japanese release date and did not get a European release date (confirmation here). The poor review might have contributed to the poor sales numbers (51% average on GameRankings). Again, this game should be around 11-13DKP on the optimistic side, as it is doubtful that this game is still even selling.
Looks like people have been selling Fuzion Frenzy 2 down without posting numbers. SNEAKY! The huge drop today is definitely warranted though. ONLY 11,500 copies sold and ONLY 31,250 copies sold total!
If we consider these as the first month sales, that's a 12.6 P/FMS ratio even at this 39.31 DKP price.
Fuzion Frenzy 2 sold 19,750 copies in its first 2 days according to VGCharts. I don't have much experience thinking about games with first day sales at this level because publishers generally don't put out press releases for this. Usually its like 1 million sold first day.
If these sales numbers are to include copies from the new rewards program, then this stock could be a tad undervalued. There are a fair number of rather... obsessive players on XBL, enough to (artificially) boost sales of this game.
On one hand I think Xbox Live Arcade lowers demand for this type of game.
On the other hand this is a MS published game and I think it makes a great secondary game for a 360 bundle. Like how Fusion Frenzy was a pack in with the original Xbox and how the disc version of Xbox Live Arcade made it into the 360 holiday bundle.
The 360 still has lots of legs itself and if MS includes this game with a heavier hitter to increase the perceptio of value in lew of a price drop it could move 1M unit or more.
A bit of a gamble but history shows that this title has potential.
Doomkin, good comments, but the question is not if the game will sell well, it's if it will sell 531,000 copies. Viva Pinata is a very highly rated game, ideal for children, but did not move sales as expected (doing only 40,000 in its first month).
I do believe Fuzion Frenzy 2 fills the gap for the lack of party games on the 360. However, with a growing sentiment of 360 + Wii, anyone with a Wii will have plenty of other party game options.
This game will sell well. I for one plan on pushing it in my store (I work at an EB).
While neither this nor the original Fusion Frenzy is very good, it is very popular amongst casual gamers.
I'd say half the customers I deal with who own Xbox360s also have small children, and like Viva Pinata, will purchase this game to give the kids something to play between rounds of GoW.
