IGN GIVE MARIO AND SONIC A 7.9!

IGN - November 6, 2007

Wii owners are no strangers to the mini-game genre. Now only a year after release, Nintendo's new system is being bombarded with simple, "everyone-friendly" titles that deliver en mass, but not always with quality in mind. Even looking at the top-tier titles in its category Wii is already pretty saturated, with things like Mario Party, Wii Play, Namco Museum, Wario Ware, Rayman (and its sequel), and countless others.

Yup, the good news is that via the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, DS players from around the world will be able to upload their best Olympic performances for all to say, adding much-needed longevity to what boils down to a rather unsatisfying single player experience. Review (5/10)

Apart from having an entirely different control system, a rejigged multiplayer mode and not being as good, M&S DS is pretty much the same game as the Wii one. You play as one of 16 characters from the worlds of Mario and Sonic. In theory their skill-sets vary - some are strong, some are speedy and so on. But in practice (and as in the Wii game) it's hard to notice a great deal of difference between them.
