Konami has released its latest financial report showing that profit was down 29.5 per cent for the past year, although the company's Pro Evolution Soccer has still managed to shift over eight million copies in 12 months.

Konami picks up Saw franchise

Konami has reportedly entered into a deal with Lionsgate to bring the Saw movie franchise to videogames in time for the sixth movie instalment. The publisher picked up the title from the movie studio after Brash Entertainment, originally at work on the adaptation, closed its doors and abandoned the project, reports Variety.

In response to an interview question from Kotaku's Brian Ashcraft, former Kojima Productions assistant producer Ryan Payton let slip that work on Metal Gear Solid 5 is already underway. There was no follow up question asked of Payton about further MGS5 details, but we do know most of the team behind MGS4 will be involved (sans Payton, obviously).

Pre-E3 whispers say MGS4 will be a timed exclusive for PS3. Microsoft mentioned just about every other game under the sun at its E3 press conference expect Kojima's highly-anticipated action game.

Konami Digital Entertainment has confirmed its list of speakers for the Games Convention in Leipzig from August 20th – 24th. Leading developers such as Hideo Kojima and Koji ‘IGA’ Igarashi, will be discussing their work, as will key members of the teams behind Silent Hill Homecoming, Rock Revolution and the European development division.

Kotaku reports that Konami (the whole company including games, slot machines & gyms) was up on the previous quarter, including the games division, which saw a sales increase of 8.6%, with net revenues totalling USD$292 million.
