GamesIndustry - May 26, 2009

Submitted by dryden (283) at 6:17PM PST on May 26, 2009

EA has "missed the current hardware cycle" and is unlikely to return to historical operating income margin levels "anytime soon", according to a new report by analysts at Cowen Research. In an occasionally damning critique of EA's plans and guidance the report states that: "We believe that following serial earnings disappointments, Electronic Arts now deserves a lower valuation premium than the company has historically enjoyed."

EA cuts outlook on weak holiday sales

Reuters - December 9, 2008

Submitted by apujanata (14935) at 3:06PM PST on December 9, 2008

EA warned that its fiscal 2009 profit and revenue will fall short of already-low forecasts due to disappointing holiday sales of its video games in North America and Europe. Share price down 10 %. EA had already slashed its fiscal 2009 estimates in late October, blaming slowing demand at retail stores and a delay in the release of its latest "Harry Potter" video game.

EA making Left 4 Dead for PS3

Joystiq - August 3, 2008

Submitted by yamaro (94) at 7:41AM PST on August 4, 2008

PS3 owners were likely disappointed to learn that Left 4 Dead would be console exclusive to the Xbox 360. A recent blurb in the latest issue of Official Playstation Magazine contradicts this claim. The one-sentence newsbrief reads, "Valve's survival horror game Left 4 Dead is coming to PS3, but EA will be taking on development duties in-house."

Houser: EA's Riccitiello is "the real deal"

MCV - May 12, 2008

Submitted by deftangel (291) at 6:29AM PST on May 12, 2008

In a very rare interview, co-founder of Rockstar Sam Houser has spoken of his respect for EA CEO John Riccitiello, the man who could own the developer's parent Take Two in a matter of days. Houser called Riccitiello "the real deal" and admitted that he "showed interest in an EA alliance". He commented that being owned by EA would make Rockstar "a much smaller fish in a much bigger pond", adding: "I'm not someone who has any kind of problem with that."

EA, Massive extend in-game ad deal through next two years

Joystiq.com - March 18, 2008

Submitted by vGInfidel (150) at 8:32AM PST on March 18, 2008

We can expect ads to continue to be shoved down our throats in games from Electronics Arts as the company has extended its deal with Microsoft's in-game ad firm Massive to offer dynamic ads in games for the next two years. The new deal will allow more advertisers to continue to hawk wares in existing titles. According to EA, ads will focus on appealing to guys between the ages of 18 and 34, but interestingly will just be served to versions released for the Xbox 360 and PC.
