Although the Tokyo Stock Exchange overall is down by 4.5%, Sony lost more (6.6%) then Nintendo(4.5%) and Konami (2.7%). Sega and Namco however are unaffected, so its not all negative.

Wall Street analyst Shaw Wu has caught wind of some reports stating that next-gen video support has been decided in favor of Blu-ray and future computers will ship with players built in.

When we originally broke word that Cory Barlog, the man guiding the God of War series after David Jaffe moved onto other projects and eventually his own studio, was leaving SCE Santa Monica -- and thus not working on God of War III -- people were a bit panicked. The news inadvertently lead to a complete confirmation of God of War III's development, but was there something willing to pick up the baton? After a long silence, Cory Barlog has assured gamers God of War 3 is fine, via his blog.

Online routing between PS3 and PSP debuts Oct 30th

Earlier this year, SCE announced a new feature that would help make online play on PSP a much more common experience for gamers. It's now confirmed to debut on Oct 30th. This "Ad-Hoc Party" service connects PSP and PS3 together, using the console as the home base for online play utilizing ad-hoc mode. The PS3 would "tunnel" your game session between another player or set of players over the internet.

Last week, Microsoft Australia issued a press release stating "Xbox 360 is the lead platform of choice for Grand Theft Auto IV after Gfk statistics show copies of the game on the 360 outsold those of its rival platform." Today, Sony Computer Entertainment Australia's Managing Director, Michael Ephraim, has gone on record with IGN AU, disproving Microsoft's claims.

Sony in legal wrangle over Buzz trademark

Buzztime Entertainment in the US had filed a suit against SCEE alleging the Buzz line of games violate a number of the company's trademarks while demanding that all infringing products be recalled and destroyed, along with a payment of damages. The US company also alleges Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is guilty of "malicious, fraudulent, wilful and deliberate" violation of trademarks.

Expensive PS3 production, among other things, has made Sony the topic of some not-so-ideal financial reports of late, but things are finally looking up as the Tokyo-based company sees a sharp rise in share prices on Tuesday. Sony's stock prices shot up 4.54 percent (250 yen) to close at 5,750 yen - said to be thanks to the here recent boost in PS3 sales and a deal that saw the Dubai state fund invest up to $500 million in the company
