Sony's Trojan Horse!?

DailyGame - April 22, 2008

Submitted by Makidian (555) at 11:52AM PST on April 22, 2008

With the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Marketplace, Microsoft is taking the first steps toward that goal. But while gamers and technophiles watch Microsoft, Sony is quietly pursuing the same dreams -- and perhaps more effectively. Skeptics viewed the Xbox as Microsoft's Trojan horse into our living rooms, an analogy that may very well be true.

"My first MMORPG was Star Wars Galaxies. Before SWG, I had stuck mostly to competitive First Person Shooter games because in my college days playing and working on fantasy based MUD's, I knew the MMORPG could be a dangerous thing when it comes to time investments."

HD VMD to Battle Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD

PC World - September 10, 2007

Submitted by welshbloke (60) at 12:44PM PST on September 10, 2007

Another day another competing HD format. This is interesting only because they will be introducing HD discs with 30gb storage on players debuting at $150 on Amazon. Apparently as it uses Red lazer the prices are even cheaper than HD DVD. All this is great shame they came so late to the party because this would of made this format war very messy.

Capcom expects further PS3 price drop

Games Industry - July 12, 2007

Submitted by Making_Waves (706) at 7:29AM PST on July 12, 2007

Capcom expects Sony to cut the price of the PlayStation 3 again before the end of the year. Speaking to Reuters, the Japanese publisher's chief financial officer said he expected PS2 users to adopt the PS3 gradually. "The number of PS2 users is still growing and a shift to the PS3 is on the back burner," commented Kazuhiko Abe. "But, the price has been cut once and it is likely to be cut again towards the end of the year." "I expect the [PS3's] installed base to grow gradually," he said. Sony cut the price of the 60GB PS3 to USD 499 earlier this week, with SCEA boss Jack Tretton claiming double sales figures for the home console off the back of the move.
