At long last, Nintendo has dropped some details on the next iteration of its dual-screened handheld, the Nintendo 3DS. As hinted at by the torn-down depiction of the device submitted in an FCC filing last month, the device's top screen is a 3.5 inch widescreen 3D display, while the bottom screen maintains the DS' 4:3 aspect ratio, as well as its ... touchability.

Forbes reports on a new list from the Reputation Institute (via Kotaku), and the company appeared at #6. Its score is 81.63, and is the first time it's appeared on the Reputation list. Nintendo also happens to be the only games-exclusive company located anywhere in the top 200, and is surrounded by more conventional goods manufacturers like Ikea and Kraft Foods. Microsoft is #30 on the list with a score of 78.05. Sony was #126 with 72.21.

Nintendo focusing on Edutainment

Siliconera - March 20, 2009

Submitted by apujanata (14935) at 5:20PM PST on March 20, 2009

A patent is filed today in USA. This patent is for a system of games designed for young children, defined by Nintendo as toddlers and pre-kindergartners, and/or people with disabilities. Nintendo believes these games or learning tools will help young children develop skills. A long time ago Sega tried to grab the young children demographic with the Pico which had a drawing board. That didn’t work so well, but Nintendo has an elaborate edutainment plan with multiple concept games.
