GTA IV smashes day one sales record

Data obtained by MCV from official UK industry monitor ChartTrack shows that Rockstar’s GTA IV has become the fastest selling game ever in a 24 hour period. Total online and High Street sales for the game hit 609,000 in one day. 335,000 copies were sold on Microsoft’s machine – 55 per cent of sales and a new record for the console. GTA IV sold 274,000 copies on PS3 yesterday – 45 per cent of all sales and another format record breaking performance.

Organization surprised how many people are upset over a bunch of numbers. 1UP contacted NPD Group PR representative David Riley, who expressed some shock over how many were upset over the upcoming change. "I had no idea this would be so ill-received. Honestly, I know this sounds ignorant but I really was taken aback when I started hearing/reading about this. It was unexpected," he said.

a new trademark application discovered by Trademork dated Feb. 5th seems to lend credence to the rumor mill. According to the application, Apple is upping its trademark to include "Toys, games and playthings, namely, hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; "

Kazuo Hirai, President and Group CEO of SCEI, will immediately assume responsibilities as president of SCE WWS, in addition to his current duties.

Analyst: Wii Production Up, PS3 Production Down

The latest report from Lazard Capital Markets suggests that Wii production is close to 1.5 million units per month. More importantly, PS3 production in Asia appears to be "temporarily" slowing down, leading analyst Colin Sebastian to believe that a price cut may not happen this year after all.
