Samsung's BD-P1400 Blu-ray player sinks below $300

engadget - December 8, 2007

Submitted by -THE-RAY- (272) at 4:35AM PST on December 9, 2007

With prices on HD DVD players in a perpetual state of free fall, it was only a matter of time before the slashings bled over to the other camp. Sure enough, Samsung's fairly well spec'd BD-P1400 -- which was announced at $549 and sold at $499 in late August -- has sunk to $298.76 at Amazon. In case you needed a refresher, this one's packing 1080p24 support, Dolby Digital Plug / True HD, DTS HD, HDMI 1.3, 1080p DVD upconversion and a pretty snazzy design, too.

Is VG Chartz Data Inaccurate and Worthless?

VGC - November 10, 2007

Submitted by -THE-RAY- (272) at 2:19PM PST on November 11, 2007

VG Chartz gets no data from retailers. Wrong. How does anybody think they would ever be approaching the level of accuracy and putting out the quantity of data they do each week if they didn't get data from retailers. The "leap of faith" many struggle with is why would retailers provide them with data? Which retailers? How much data? Why can't they say? What are they hiding?

Epic: No Wii intentions

GI - October 4, 2007

Submitted by Just_Ben (112) at 7:30AM PST on October 5, 2007

Epic Games has no plans to work on middleware or graphics engines for the Nintendo Wii, according to vice president Mark Rein. "I think the problem is that it is not in our wheelhouse. I mean, what we are doing is the really high-end, next-generation visuals. We are pushing these [Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3] machines pretty hard." "I do not think there is a lot of money on making engines for the Wii..because the big software dollars right now are being earned on Xbox 360 and they are going to be earned on PlayStation 3, and I think unless you are going to sell your engine to Nintendo, you are going for scraps on that platform."
