360 outselling PS3 in GTA software 'battle'

55% of Rockstar title sales are on Microsoft machine in its first week in UK. More copes of Rcokstar's GTA IV for were sold on Xbox 360 than PS3 in the game's first week on UK shelves. However, PS3 hardware sales leapt 127 per cent in the week in which the game was released (Sunday, April 27th to Saturday, May 5th) week-on-week. Xbox 360 hardware sales also felt the GTA effect, climbing 125 per cent in the week.

Analysts: Game Industry to continue to grow

Analysts confident of good performance despite threat of recession. The simExchange analyst Jesse Divnich believes that the videogames industry could continue to perform well despite an ongoing downturn in global economic conditions. Meanwhile Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter noted that "overall sales were much higher than our expectations" across the month, but that if the US economy isn't impacting sales, it is affecting the stock market.

Halo 2 has spent years atop Xbox Live's most activity on the Xbox so when Halo 3 was tops on the 360 many though it would be a similar run. Well after only 3 months Halo 3 has been topped by the seamingly popular Call of Duty 4.

PS3 leading year-to-date sales battle with 360; Sony and Microsoft consoles see over 70 per cent sales boost The race between Xbox 360 and PS3 shifted up a notch this past week as both consoles saw huge leaps in hardware sales, thanks to the Easter break. Though PS3 is still outselling 360 regularly week-on-week and in terms of year-to-date sales, the Sony and Microsoft platforms both saw a 73 and 78 per cent rise in hardware sales respectively this week.

Unreal Engine 4 Exclusively Targeting Consoles

Epic’s in development Unreal Engine 4 will specifically be targeted at the next generation of consoles and not PCs. “Version 4 will exclusively target the next console generation, Microsoft's successor for the Xbox 360, Sony's successor for the PlayStation 3 - and if Nintendo ships a machine with similar hardware specs, then that also. PCs will follow after that."

As well as beginning to contact major news sites on a regular basis to disseminate its news, the site was also the subject of a positive article on O'Reilly Radar from Robert Passarella. But how is the site actually compiled, and is it a good source for reasonably reputable news websites to be citing?
