At Blizzard's Worldwide Invitationtal in Paris today, Blizzard has officially announced that Diablo 3 is currently under development. This comes 8 years after the release of Diablo 2 and is greeted by a high amount of anticipation from rabid Diablo fans. (See also: www.blizzard.com)

Sony's fiscal 2008 annual report delineated potential risk factors to its investors, outlining that "the large-scale investment required during the development and introductory period of a new gaming platform may not be fully recovered." The loss figures were provided as an example of the "significant negative impact" introducing a new platform can cause at first.

Activision: Wii to Sell Double PS3 in US This Year

Activision expects hardware increases in North America during calendar year 2008 of 2-3 million units for PS2, 3-4 million units for PS3, 4-5 million units for Xbox 360, and 7 million units for the Wii. He added that Activision expects handhelds to grow by 11 million units but did not break that estimate down into PSP versus DS sales.

Florida Supreme Court bans Jack Thompson

Jack Thompson the controversial attorney is not allowed to contact the Florida Supreme Court directly ever again and will need to hire his own attorney to communicate with the Court on his behalf. This is an entirely separate matter from Thompson's Florida Bar trial we'r currently awaiting a ruling on. Thomson has been banned for amongst other things, submitting pornographic materials and "continued inability to maintain a minimum standard of decorum and respect for the judicial system."

Pachter's NPD Feb predicitions

Wedbush's Michael Pachter has called [Feb] sales up 27pc to $575m. Hardware - DS: 350k Wii: 300k, PS3: 260k, Xbox 360: 250k, PS2: 245k, PSP: 225k, GBA: 1k. Software wise he's gone for DMC4 to lead out the pack. Lots more good analysis including comparisons with TheSimExchange at the link.
