Wal-Mart confirms $50 Xbox 360 price cut?

maxconsole - July 28, 2007

Submitted by vobbo (517) at 10:12AM PST on July 28, 2007

Earlier this week ther were rumors indicating that the price of the Xbox 360 is to be reduced by $50. Now it seems as if further weight is added to these claims with the following Wal-Mart ad placing a price tag of $349 on the Xbox 360 premium. It doesn't look as if this was an error as the box also has a 'rollback' logo above it, indicating an official price cut.

Konami sees little PS3 price cut impact

Reuters - July 10, 2007

Submitted by yamaro (94) at 12:48AM PST on July 10, 2007

"I wonder if Sony can win back user support by the price cut of just $100," Kazumi Kitaue, the head of Konami's North American and European operations, told Reuters in an interview ahead of this week's E3 video game industry trade show. "I don't expect a substantial impact ... With $500, you can buy a personal computer." "Since Metal Gear Solid was born for the PlayStation, we would like to keep it a PlayStation game. But we might have to take some steps," Kitaue said.

Forbes: 2008 year of the PS3? There is always 2009

Forbes - June 24, 2008

Submitted by Madyson (2271) at 6:29AM PST on June 24, 2008

It's too soon to tell how the PS3's highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4 will impact June sales. The year may not even be at the halfway mark, but Sony's luck will have to change if 2008 will end up the year of the PS3. It will now have to rely on its cast of anticipated holiday hits, such as Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet, and the launch of Home, its oft-delayed virtual online community, to drive sales. There's always 2009.

Best Selling Games of last 15 years in US

forbes - June 4, 2008

Submitted by Mushashi (5) at 9:23AM PST on June 4, 2008

Even when looking at sales data over the last 15 years, the industry's best-selling games have all debuted after 2001. To get a grip on the titles that have dominated the U.S. market, we asked NPD Group to provide a list of top-selling games across all platforms, including PCs, game consoles and handheld gaming gizmos through the end of April. To avoid the distortions created by inflation and the vagaries of pricing, we ranked the results by units sold rather than dollars raked in.
