On April 25, 2008 the president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, presented the results of his company's financial results for the fiscal year which ended with March 2008. Accompanying his remarks to investors were several graphs and figures which are worth examining in detail, including: Graphs of Wii LTD sales across four important territories: Japan, the U.S., the U.K. and Germany, monthly shipping estimates, Comparisons of Wii software sales and Nintendo historical revenue growth.

Hidden inside Nintendo report is this text on page 3, first paragraph : These titles contributed to a significant rise in console software (Wii) in the fiscal year, as the number of million-seller titles life-to-date (licensee (a.k.a. third parties)titles included) increased from 5 to 26 compared with that of the last fiscal year.

Nintendo Japan gears up for March 25th WiiWare launch

Nintendo of Japan has revealed the launch line-up for the country's introduction of WiiWare. Games spun from staple franchises Final Fantasy, Pokemon and Mario will be available from the launch day, which is March 25th, along with a number of shorter casual games. Nintendo has also clarified the price ranges of WiiWare games, with games coming in at a variety of prices from 500 WiiPoints (just under £4) to 1,500 (just over £10).

The Wii is the hot item these days--so why are review scores for Wii games significantly lower than those of Xbox 360 and PlayStation titles? Matt Matthews investigates the numbers behind the phenomenon. The average of all Xbox 360 reviews cataloged on GameRankings turns out to be almost 70%. The same number for the PlayStation 3 is over 73% and for the Nintendo Wii ... a dismal 64%

Ubisoft Montreal: Secret Wii Projects in the Works

Ubisoft Montreal, the studio behind Assassin's Creed and Far Cry 2, has secret Wii projects set to be unveiled soon. Speaking in an interview about the studio's recent focus on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, the developer's CEO, Yannis Mallat, said, "We are, in Montreal, focusing also on the DS with a new casual division that has been started within Montreal, with My Word Coach and so on. Those games have been started in Montreal.

Engine Claims WiiWare Launches in March

According to Engine, WiiWare is slated to launch in March. Previously, Nintendo had only provided an early 2008 release for the Wii's original- and indie-focused download service.
