It's almost three years since the last Devil May Cry, with its self-consciously angsty Emo shapes. Despite its awful music and dialogue, we were happy to dish out 8/10 for what was one of the best hackandslash fighting systems around. It wasn't a big step up, but it didn't need to be. It just needed better balance, and to make us forget about the awful second instalment. Refining the 2001 original into something truly fleshed out and compelling, it did the job.

Capcom has not officially committed to a release date for the Devil May Cry 4 demo. However, the date appears to be revealed on Capcom's two official minisites, deceiverdeceived.com and betrayerbetrayed.com. One section of the minisites solicits fans to download a DMC4 widget to post on blogs or their own fan sites

Capcom wants us to know that the demo for Devil May Cry 4 hit one million downloads this past Saturday, February 9. Microsoft tells the publisher that this is the first time in 2008 that a demo has hit the million download mark, in addition to being the fastest to that number in the history of Xbox LIVE.

"Surely the game must be out soon? Not so. Fans have a further nine months to wait until it finally emerges sometime in "Q1 2008", our Capcom rep regretfully informs us." So there you have it Devil May Cry 4 won't be hitting store shelves until early 2008. The delay may well be because of the games new mulitplatform status, since Capcom also announced a simultaneous release on the PS3, Xbox360 and PC. Or it could be that Capcom are waiting for the PS3 user base to grow. Which ever reason, hopefully the wait will be appeased by Dante's and Nero's slick moves.

Well, after all the rumors, the clips, the exclusivity brouhaha and all the rest of the hype leading up to the release of Capcom’s Devil May Cry 4, its Day of Judgment has finally arrived. After pulling in some heavy time in video-game purgatory with the final retail version of the game, it’s safe to say that fans of the series are in for one hell of a good time.

We've played to the end as both Nero and Dante. Devil May Cry 4 keeps things interesting with its secret-filled levels. You'll be treated to a lot of fairly lengthy, well-acted cutscenes that are ridiculously packed with over-the-top, beautifully choreographed action. The game's looking beautiful - equally so on both Xbox 360 and PS3 - and assuming things don't change too much between now and the game's release date, Dante's fans should have a lot to look forward to in February

Game Informer Magazine broke the first news on Devil May Cry 4 almost a year ago, and fans of the series are clamoring for any new information about the game. Unfortunately, even with E3 approaching, Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi and the DMC team are remaining tight-lipped
