On Gamespot's "On the Spot" web show 11/20/08, Gamespot Executive Producer Ryan Mac Donald, while talking about the Killzone 2 Beta, states that Killzone 2 comes out February 17th exclusively on the PS3. The statement can be found at 32:10 / 72:27. I can confirm this, as i have heard it.

Good or Evil

Killzone Unit - February 4, 2008

Many Killzone fans are divided between who are the “good and evil guys” within the Killzone universe. Helghast dictator Scolar Visari makes mention of the ISA oppressing and shunning his people. Which leaves the question to be asked, was the Helghast attack on Vekta justified?

Killzone 2 Screens "Touched Up"

Kotaku - December 10, 2007

Submitted by ixaarii (444) at 4:33AM PST on December 10, 2007

In a surprising mirroring of the 'in-game footage' scandal Guerilla's Seb Downie admitted on the forums: "They are only the tiniest bit touched up. Short answer is yes. Long answer is that there was a little bit of colour-correction done and some minor polish, but nothing major. Still very close to reality and it looks better in motion in my opinion."

Hands-on: Killzone 2 single-player campaign

Joystiq - December 4, 2008

Submitted by afsplat (130) at 8:26AM PST on December 4, 2008

The cynic inside of me didn't want to believe the hype. How could I forget that the original Killzone on PS2 was backed by an overwhelming hype machine, powered by vocal drones declaring it a "Halo-killer?" When it was released in 2004, critics were impressed by the technical presentation but found very little substance in the gameplay. Four years later, with an early version of the single player game, I wondered if Killzone 2 would repeat history.

SCEE’s sent out journalist invites to a Killzone 2 public beta this afternoon, which will apparently take place “later this year.” No specifics are available as yet, but we’re fucking pumped. We’re so pumped. We’ve supplied all the information we’ve been asked for and we’re waiting to hear on the dates now. Pumped.

Killzone 2 E3 2005 trailer "not false"

Eurogamer - February 28, 2008

Submitted by llonesmiz (508) at 4:34AM PST on February 28, 2008

The developer responded to "false" accusations on the US PlayStation boards, suggesting Sony PR had confused things at the time. "The E3 2005 trailer was not false. One confused Sony rep claimed it was a movie from the game engine - one guy blitzed out of his mind on fatigue, jet-lag and the madness that is E3. One guy not at all affiliated with Guerrilla Games - probably with a head full of 30 different titles".

Killzone 2's opening Cinematic

Joystiq.com - January 29, 2009

Submitted by the_bUg (906) at 4:16PM PST on January 29, 2009

Killzone 2 has never lacked in the pre-rendered department. Heck, the game's most famous (or is that: infamous?) for its unbelievable visual razzle-dazzle. All smoke and mirrors or not, this is the official intro cinematic that's included in the game. Pre-rendered, in-engine, whatever -- it's definitely not playable. So sit back, dim the lights, and enjoy.

Killzone 2 Lighting Engine

Gamers-Creed - July 30, 2007

Killzone 2 uses a multitude of lighting effects applied in real-time on a situation-by-situation basis. This is by far the most complex and impressive lighting engine created for a console video game. Everything you see in Killzone 2 is made possible by the lighting engine. If you turn it off, you will simply have a black screen - this is VERY important to remember....

Buzz has been growing for Guerilla's upcoming Killzone 2 ever since the famous E3 2005 trailer and continuing on through the game's fantastic showing at this year's E3. Today at the 2007 Games Conference in Leipzig, Guerilla developers gave us a tour of a good chunk of the first level which was initially demoed back in July during E3.
