Well, I hate to say I told you so, but… IGN has an interview with Kazunori Yamauchi, the game studio's founder and boss. In this interview, Yamauchi tells the world what some of us had suspected: GT5 may well not see the light of day until 2010. In fact, PD is not even focusing on the game right now, and is instead working on GT5 Prologue.

IGN Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Online Impressions

The game now includes options for "Online" and "Ranking." "Ranking," is an online ranking viewer. You can filter rankings by track, car type, tire type, and even physics mode (standard or professional). The game lets you view and save replays for the top racers on each track. The real meat of the update is in the Online mode. On this first day of online play, the game has just four live race events against other racers and four time trials where you attempt to beat other players' best times.

Gran Turismo fans still have around 12 months to wait for a full sequel to appear on PS3, according to SCEA. The last we heard on a release date for GT5 came from the mouth of the game's director Kaunori Yamauchi who said it could be pushed back as far as late 2008. Seems he needed to add a few months on top.
