Version 1.2 is aimed at competitive players but it'll also bring in the usual improvements. Major "e-Sport" features will be introduced that'll let players show how they did in past seasons and improve chat. Along with bug fixes, balance changes, and tweaks, the SCII editor will get some significant improvements.

Jim Raynor stars as Terran protagonist. Also "Blizzard has implemented character dialogue trees into the mix. So, instead of just watching in-game cut-scenes (WC3) or non-interactive dialogue panels (SC), you can click on characters surrounding Raynor on the bridge to engage them in conversation." "The new unlock system in StarCraft II allows players to pick and choose which units and research options they have for successive missions, instead of being fed upgrades over the course of a linear story." **LINK TO IMPRESSIONS HERE:** http://pc.ign.com/articles/810/810339p1.html

Activision’s Next Blockbuster as Starcraft II Hits Shelves

Normally, the release of a PC game – even a highly anticipated one – wouldn’t be a particularly big deal for investors. But when that game is “Starcraft II,” all the usual rules are thrown out the window. Analysts expect the game, which ships to retail on Tuesday, to sell up to 4.5 million copies by the end of August. To put that in perspective, that’s nearly twice as many copies as the year’s best selling console game to date.
