"CoD4: MW is fantastic. Single-player experience is easily Infinity Ward's best work to date. Intense may be an understatement. Overall story is action movie fare, but relationships built over the short 5 hours of play are surprisingly strong. Though single-player lacks length, multiplayer should keep you invested in COD4 for the long winter. Truly fantastic multiplayer that's as deep as any other online game available. Infinity Ward has done it again. CoD4 is a winner."

Activision CFO Thomas Tippl confirmed today that Infinity Ward's shooter will definitely be arriving this holiday season and is, apparently, "looking incredible." He said at an annual Wedbush Morgan Securities meeting (via Kotaku) that Activision expects Modern Warfare 2 to be "the most anticipated game of the year," going so far as saying "Perhaps [it'll be] the number one game of the year despite the fact that it's only going to launch in the holiday season."

So it turns out the CoD4 Variety Map Pack is coming out this week, after all. Despite the official COD4 Game of the Year website decreeing an April 10 release date for the downloadable content, Infinity Ward's blogger extraordinaire fourzerotwo posted reassurances today that the map pack is "NOT delayed" and that there's a good chance the maps will be available tomorrow night or early Friday. "For those of you asking when you should take off work, I'd take off Friday,"
