It turns out people are big fans of Advance Wars. How do we know? Well, folks don't just hang around in the bitter cold for nothing, and from the massive line outside of the Nintendo World store in New York, we're guessing people might have been a little enthusiastic. We'd like to call these expressions "happy," but there seems to be a dose of "can we get the hell inside already, 'cause it is cold, y'all" going on here.

Specs on two new vehicles, plus exclusive screens and videos. Talks about Bikes and Dusters and contains videos of both in action. "Although they seem at first like a small addition to the Advance Wars world, you'll find that bikes will let you create a whole new set of tactical strategies! Dusters are versatile air units with great movement range. They also have the ability to fire on both air and ground units—a new skill for Advance Wars air units."

A reboot of the series, with a much darker tone. The gameplay has not changed much but the art style has. The game can be played with the d-pad, but it optimized for the stylus. Huge focus on online wi-fi play. You can also create your own maps and upload them for others (once you've proven you can beat the challenge, so no unbeatable scenarios). IGN expects it in early 2008.

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is everything I had hoped it would be. The classic gameplay of previous iterations remains, while the series' new edgy feel will appeal to a broader audience. This title has been upgraded, not just updated. The artwork, story, amount of content, truly engaging gameplay, and a host of online features make this title an instant classic. For those few naysayers out there that distrusted the move to a more mature format, allow me to allay your fears. This game is great!

For the uninitiated, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is a turn-based strategy game that features cartoon-style graphics but possesses a surprising amount of strategic depth. Days of Ruin, the fourth game in the series and the second for the DS, continues this fine tradition and will entertain gamers of all types.

Back at E3 2007 Nintendo quietly announced another Advance Wars for the DS to be released this year -- in Europe. According to jeuxfrance.com, the sequel was playable at the Micromania Games Show in Paris over the weekend. The Site has some (fuzzy) shots of the game being played and sporting a more mature look than previous iterations.
