Only officially announced last year, Ninja Gaiden II has only seen a few screens and movies trickle out so far for a rabid populace’s consumption. But recently we were lucky enough to get our hands on a build of the game.

- At Microsoft's Keynote held during GDC 2008, Tomonobu Itagaki showed a new level from Ninja Gaiden 2. The "GDC Special Edition" demo gave us a glimpse at the Temple of Sacrifice and revealed an exciting new feature for Ninja Gaiden 2.

Microsoft released a Ninja Gaiden 2 DLC on July 25th, that included Mission Modes for 800 MS Points. Since there have been reports of achievement bugs and freezing issues, the DLC was removed from the marketplace. It was later rereleased on July 30th along with a system update that was suppose to repair the issues reported.

Microsoft announced today that it will be releasing 25 new missions for Ninja Gaiden II on Xbox 360, which is said to be the "equivalent to a whole new campaign mode".

The game once again focuses on ninja Ryu Hayabusa, but a younger version of him. Apparently, Ninja Gaiden II will focus on the butt-kicking hero's formative years in adventure, set before the action in the original NES and arcade Ninja Gaiden adventures. The specifics of the story aren't available yet, but longtime fans can look forward to some interesting twists and new faces, along with all kinds of stabbing.

But never in our wildest dreams did we expect a Ninja Gaiden II demo, which is exactly what is headed down the GDC XBLM pipeline. According to a GDC content banner that appears on the XBLM, it makes mention that a downloadable Ninja Gaiden II demo will be "Coming Soon". The item is not clickable just yet, so no demo goodness for us, but we have a feeling that Thursday will bring bloody ninja fun for fanboys across the globe.
