1 Up Review : A

So with the classic, new-school, and infinitely customizable character roster at the ready, and with online play fully operational, it's not a stretch to say this might be 2008's best fighting game. Some other hot fighters are on the horizon, but considering how fun Soul Calibur 4 is after a month of nonstop play, I think it'd be hard to top what Namco's accomplished with what is unquestionably their best fighting game to date.

Soul Calibur Dated for US

IGN - April 16, 2008

Submitted by Makidian (555) at 7:52AM PST on April 16, 2008

Namco Bandai has revealed the launch date for the latest in the Soulcalibur series, with the fourth installment due to hit the US on July 29. There's still no news of a European release date, though we can expect it some time before the leaves brown. Soulcalibur IV has taken the somewhat remarkable step of introducing Star War's Yoda and Darth Vader to the mix, and looks to capitalize on online play.

Namco on Soulcalibur IV Install Size

Kotaku - July 1, 2008

Submitted by yamaro (94) at 10:47PM PST on July 1, 2008

The rumors of 6.5GB install size and 2GB save data for PS3 version have been exaggerated, says the publisher. "Those numbers are not accurate and are significantly overblown," a Namco Bandai rep told Kotaku. Reps did not respond to requests for exact installation sizes, nor did they comment on the hard drive requirements for the Xbox 360 version.

At a press event held during this week's CES, Namco Bandai showcased a playable version of Soul Calibur IV, and though the build on display didn't feature the recently announced Star Wars characters, it included some of the staple characters of the series and gave us a solid taste of what's to come.

What is This game like.....

GI - October 2, 2008

Submitted by Allgamz (2104) at 6:03PM PST on October 2, 2008

"GI: One of the main features in Soulcalibur is the weapon-based combat. Are you thinking about incorporating projectiles at all in Soulcalibur IV?" "Sasaki: We’ve thought about it, of course, and in II, Link, from the GameCube version, could use the bow and arrow as well as throw bombs. It’s not like there’s a rule that we’re not going to do it, it’s just that it has to match a particular character and fits in well with the Soulcalibur gameplay and atmosphere."
