In news that should come as no surprise after the auction house announcement, Blizzard announced today that PayPal will be their payment-service for the Diablo III auction house. With the introduction of PayPal as an option for the auction house will also come the ability to play for Blizzard goods and services all across Battle.net. The service will be available in “many” regions, Blizzard said, but they weren’t willing to say which ones were excluded.

Remember that silly, insane rumor from back in 2008 about Diablo 3 being released by Blizzard before StarCraft 2? Turns out that Blizzard's Rob Pardo thinks that's a bunch of hogwash. Rather, that's at least what we can infer from his recent conversation with Techland on the subject. "We always announce all of our games too early," he says. "I think it's safe to say that, yeah, [Diablo 3] is not going to be out next year."

Wilson revealed that the team was working through the game in a linear fashion, from start to end - "but you want your best work, which you tend to do latest in the project, to be at the beginning of the game". So the team will take plenty of time to revisit what it has already done. "It's pretty much how Blizzard works; we have a tendency to iterate over and over again on everything we do. So we build something and then we rebuild it," he said.

Speaking to Kotaku, Blizzard Vice President Rob Pardo said it was Blizzard's goal to release the third entry in the Diablo series this year. Pardo, however, did emphasize that the company had a large interest to "get it right," which he said was more important than rushing the game out.

We received news today from an anonymous source from inside Blizzard, confirming that development of StarCraft 2 will be largely postponed until Blizzard's recently announced, and long-awaited Diablo 3 is ready for the market. [Starcraft 2] is still being worked on, but only by a minuscule amount of people compared to what [Blizzard] put on the Diablo 3 team.

Speaking to VG, lead Diablo III designer Jay Wilson said that you may well be up in arms about the next class decisions Blizzard’s set to reveal for the game. “All the barbarian players are delighted and all the necromancers hate us,”he said. “I understand, I don’t begrudge them that. I would hate me too! But what I would say is that when we announce the next class, which is quite similar to a previous class, then all those players will hate us too.
