Empire: Total War is a masterful combination of all the things that I love about strategy games - a great setting, a first-rate presentation, tactics that reward maneuver, and a strategic layer that requires flexibility in your plans. Ultimately, Empire Total War maintains the excellent fusion of thoughtful turn-based empire building and dramatic tactical action that the series is known for, and it layers many new features on those foundations to reach awesome new heights.

Although Killzone 2 sales are down 58 per cent from last week, the Guerilla-developed title is still only 1600 units behind the latest from Total team Creative Assembly. Empire: Total War is the first PC title to top the All Formats charts since October 2007, according to data from GfK Chart-Track, with sales double that of Rome: Total War's first week.

The early part of 2009 is looking like a busy time for high-profile and promising games on the PC. Creative Assembly's Empire: Total War set for March, it's also going to be a busy time for strategy fans. After several rounds of demos and trailers, we finally got to get our hands on the latter title for battles at sea and on land, as well as some map management.
