Nintendo's Pokemon franchise can be considered an enduring worldwide phenomenon, but nowhere is that more true than in its native Japan. Case in point, Famitsu publisher Enterbrain reports that the latest installments in the dual-release franchise, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White, have combined to set a new first-week sales record for the franchise upon their release in Japan on September 18.

Pokemon Black and White dated March 6 for North America

Joystiq - December 27, 2010

Submitted by TheSmilkman (101) at 6:05AM PST on December 28, 2010

Nintendo's encapsulated warrior creatures return to North America in a new adventure with Pokémon Black and Pokemon White on March 6, 2011. The two versions of the game continue the tradition of being slightly different (this time, slightly more than usual) with different locations, creatures and seasons available. The Black version will offer the Pokémon Reshiram and a setting called Black City, while White will contain the "lush, green area" of White Forest and let you capture Zekrom.

It's no big surprise that Pokemon is getting a little...stale. There, we said it. Even those of us who are actually big fans of the series are starting to get fed up with how slowly the series is progressing. Instead of writing an article saying the game needs a complete overhaul with a new real-time battle system and 3D everything, we decided to go for the more realistic route

Pokemon Black and White region and Characters

Submitted by Supertjjr (1036) at 6:22AM PST on May 29, 2010

The setting is the region of Iishu, which is apparently located "far far away" from the areas of previous games in the series. "Many never before seen Pokemon inhabit this area where greenery surrounds a modern megalopolis with nature and man coexisting," says the site. There are two characters. One is a "stylish young man" while the other is "a young girl with a lively style."
