MMO developers permitted to require Xbox hard drive for future titles. Devs will be able to create a single 'Master Storage File' on user's hard drives, though titles will have to clearly state the requirement and amount of hard disc space that will be needed, on the front of the box. Microsoft has also stated that it will not place any restrictions on the amount of disc space needed.

I have said this is the way it will be as the consoles evovle and so it has come to pass. I confess I did not realise that the FFXI had system requirements of a HDD way back then.
I think the only worry here would be for the 20gb owners who are having increasing pressure placed on the space. If we have games like COD4 and MMO's plus the usual demos and Live games now increased in size all clammering for space we too will be upgrading not just the Core buyers.
The good news for Core owners is that they now have the option of second hand 20gb units from those who have upgraded to the 120gb. It is pretty straightforward to wipe a second hand disk so nothing to worry about.[ Oracle ] [ Level 30 ] [ Rank: 60 ]bids

Why are you mentioning COD4 along with MMOs? Is this another instance of the rumor that it will require the HDD? Rest assured that it will work perfectly fine on a Core. There's nothing in a linear FPS that would require a HDD.
