New Wii colors launching packin with Smash Brothers on 1/24.

That would be a little disappointing for me. But it will make a significant number of others part with their money and Nintendo has figured how to take advantage of that pretty good over the years (release new color during slow period, release new color with a new game, release new color only when bundled with a certain game, etc).
(By the way, I took it as though you wanted a new color from your previous comment.)
Also, when marketing to a wider, more casual audience as Nintendo is doing, new colors can have an even better affect on sales (see iPod for example - a new color or slightly different design and Apple gets more sales immediately from the new color or slight change in design).[ Oracle ] [ Level 20 ] [ Rank: 294 ]bids

I do believe that there is a pretty okay possibility of new Wii colors by the end of 2008 because (hopefully) the Wii supply issue will have settled down a bit by then and it would fall into the usual Nintendo timeframe of releasing new colors for a system. So hopefully you will be able to get your wallet out soon (though I suspect that Nintendo at the most will bring out one or two new colors when they do launch new colors of the Wii).[ Oracle ] [ Level 20 ] [ Rank: 294 ]bids

Looks like the source of these rumors, a 2ch message board poster, has admitted that the Famitsu info was faked. Everyone will have to settle with the lush whiteness of their Wiis for the time being it seems. Thank God I didn't get my hopes up or my wallet out.

1I do not think Nintendo is overly disappointed with sales in Japan because the release of new colors of the Wii was just something that is obviously expected and inevitable. In addition, Nintendo is just being a smart company if they release new colors with Brawl, but it should be noted that all of the talk about new colors is still merely rumor.[ Oracle ] [ Level 20 ] [ Rank: 294 ]bids
