Jensen frequently noted that Crysis was a strong performer, stating the game went "platinum," which likely means it sold a million units worldwide

It is mentioned in the Conference call that 23 EA published games have achieved over 1 million sales, including Crysis.
"Need for Speed Pro Street, Rock Band, The Simpsons, Half Life 2 Orange Box, Sims 2 Castaway, NBA Live 08 and Crysis all went platinum in the quarter. Year to date, we have 23 titles that have sold over one million copies, up five from a year ago."

The actual EA PR says Crysis sold better than expected. It notes Rock Band sold over 1.5 million copies. If Crysis sold over 1 million copies, I would think they would've said it. I don't even see Crysis going "platinum" in the press release, especially since the term doesn't mean anything in the video game world.[ Guru ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 260 ]bids
1@kspraydad, yeah it appears the journalist is assuming "platinum" means 1 million in sales, which is not generally the case in video games. It sounds like they are using the RIAA's definition of platinum, which means 1 million records sold. However, the RIAA also considers gold as 500,000 records, in the video game world we all know going gold means the master disc is ready for manufacturing. "Platinum hits" doesn't mean the game has sold 1 million. I'm skeptical of this news resulting in such a large price move.[ Guru ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 260 ]bids

So they sold 4 million PC games total in q4/07(not fiscal, calendar)?

This story is making the rounds but no where in the ACTUAL EA press release do they say they sold 1 million copies...you think they would.
