a new trademark application discovered by Trademork dated Feb. 5th seems to lend credence to the rumor mill. According to the application, Apple is upping its trademark to include "Toys, games and playthings, namely, hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; "

Very interesting. iGame(TM) ? If this is true, who will be negatively impacted the most ? Nintendo ? Sony ? Somehow, I have the feeling it is Sony, since PSP is also used for multimedia, an area where iPod is strong at, not Nintendo.[ Oracle ] [ Level 30 ] [ Rank: 14935 ]bids

I doubt that we will see any type of gaming device from Apple in the near future as they have never been friendly to game makers and like to be super protective over their platforms (something most game creators probably would not appreciate). I think this is going to end up being that they are just protecting the Apple name from being used in the product categories mentioned and want to keep the possibility open.
