Nintendo dropped us a line to clear up a bit of misconception in our write up of WiiWare from Wednesday. They aren't just looking for games from small teams from big-name developers - in fact, a good number of upcoming WiiWare titles are from up and coming or little-know developers getting their first shot at having a game appear on a console.

How? Well, cost for one thing. The Wii is cheaper to develop for than other platforms (the basic dev kit was quite a bit cheaper than the 360 one, si I would assume the WiiWare dev kit would be even less than XBLA).
Another reason is simply install base. The Wii is the leader this generation (I'll throw in a "so far" caveat).
I don't think that reliable numbers exist for comparing sales of Virtual Console games vs Live Arcade titles, so I can't being to guess which market is selling more.
