Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV is poised to sell 5.8 million units during its first week of availability, according to Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey.
"We expect [GameStop] will benefit from the release of GTA IV in their fiscal Q208 period, which could ship 5.8 million units in the first week or $360 million in retails sales and potentially $110 million for the Company," he wrote.

Halo 3 generated $300 million worldwide in first week, this analyst projects possible sales of $360 million, but he does not say where this refers too. I could not find unit sales for first week of Halo 3 sales.[ Oracle ] [ Level 30 ] [ Rank: 5 ]bids

wow really? 5.8 units? any thoughts on this?
halo 3 sold 3.3 million in a week (if i remember correctly). that game had a lot of hype. a LOT of hype AND marketing.
gta4 probably will have similar levels of marketing (maybe?) and the hype is there. also this game is available to two audiences (ps3 and 360). so it's feasible that the numbers could be more than halo 3's. but 2.5 million more than halo 3's launch?[ Oracle ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 148 ]bids
