In this month's column, we'll break down the figures and answer the following questions:
How much have game prices risen in the past two years? How much did those price increases contribute to the nearly $1 billion in software sales in March 2008?
Sony has sold over 800,000 PS3 systems in the U.S. this year. How long did it take Sony to sell that many in 2007? And how soon could the American Wii installed base catch up with the Xbox 360?

Probably, since the title is very close.
However, their kids can still play it on Wii, thanks to Backward Compatibility (something that may not be 100% applicable to PS2 games, since new PS3 removed the H/W compatibility feature, and there was no confirmation that S/W compatibility guarantee 100% coverage of PS2 S/W).
OTOH, Melee is known as a game with very, very long leg, so there is a possibility that this 10K sales is not caused by "mispurchase". In Jan 2007 NPD, sales of SSBM is OVER 15K, so it is in the realm of possibility of it still selling 10K in March 2008 (only 15 month later).
In case you wonder where I got the 15K+ figure for Jan 2007, I got it from reputable source that I could not link to. So if you don't believe me, it is fine with me.
