"One of the problems with the 360, and it affects games like Grand Theft Auto if you think about how much content we put in the actual machine, is the fact that they don't have a significantly larger storage medium than the previous systems. It's a slightly bigger DVD disc... If we're filling up the disc right now, where are we going? It's not like our games are going to get any smaller.", Sam Houser told 1up.

The image is a presentation slide showing X360 disc specifications from Gamefest 2007 conference. I believe the rest of capacity is used for DRM protection.

do you have any other sources for the 6.8GB usable space information? the link you provided goes to photobucket which is blocked here.

You can only use Microsoft manufactured HD units with X360

X360 game disc only has 6.8GB usable space for game data so GTA IV is already close to maximal capacity of the disc.

Double layered DVD's only hold 8.5 gb so I would not say GTA IV at 6-7 gb is much less than what a DVD can hold. But the context here is GTA V. GTA V will likely build on IV througha lot more content, just like previous GTA's have done. Compare GTA 3 to GTA San Andreas in terms of content. Apply that to GTA IV to GTA V. It's likely going to require a substantial increase in memory needed. I don't think Rockstar would state this themselves, right before GTA IV launches, that GTA V could be too large for 360 if it didn't have reason to.[ Oracle ] [ Level 26 ] [ Rank: 241 ]bids

I would suspect we'll see more games requiring hard drives this year, even if its the Burnout effect (hard drive required for online play). MS would be foolish to limit the games on XBox for a $50 accessory.[ Oracle ] [ Level 22 ] [ Rank: 130 ]bids
