In March 2005, Microsoft heralded the coming of the "HD Era", with promises that the 360 would lead gamers into this brave new world. For what sounded like a lot of marketing hype at the time, you can't deny they were pretty much on the mark; having an HDTV is almost a necessity for gamers wanting to get the most out of their 360 and PS3, and willing gamers are filling the need. So much so that a new study shows that 18% of all HDTV purchasers in the past year did so specifically for gaming.
