As Nintendo's WiiWare service grows, avid Wii users are finding themselves burning through the console's paltry 512MB of internal memory quite quickly. So we found it slightly strange when speaking to Edge Magazine, NOE Marketing Director Laurent Fischer was surprisingly dismissive of the growing space demands of WiiWare titles. According to him, only "geeks and otaku" want the issue actually addressed. Which does not bode well for those "geeks" hoping for extra storage.

Since I only buy 2 VC (husband : Zelda ALTTP, son : Pokemon Snap), even though I have about 7 games (including Wii Fit Channel, Mario kart Channel, SSBB channel), there are still significant free memory block (1000+) remained. Unless my husband and son buy WiiWare or more VC games, I don't see think I will see my Wii growing.
I believe my husband complained about the fact that SSBB and Pokemon games save couldn't be copied to SD card.[ Oracle ] [ Level 23 ] [ Rank: 9 ]bids

I think the situation may be that Nintendo is worried about easier piracy with adding adding additional storage. Unfortunately this comes at the expense of the consumers who do need more storage. They could just make a larger amount of storage built into Wiis, but they find no reason to lower their profits when Wii keeps selling so well. It is too bad they did not have the foresight to gauge how much storage would be needed, or maybe they did but wanted to shoot for as much profit as they could on the hardware.[ Oracle ] [ Level 26 ] [ Rank: 241 ]bids

"Nintendo Europe's senior marketing director, Laurent Fischer, has apparently apologized for comments made earlier in the week, when he said that the only people interested in a Wii hard drive would be "geeks and otaku." Fisher tells videogaming247 that he didn't mean to use those terms in a way to cause offense. He regrets any "misunderstanding" that was created by his comments within the community."
