Two of the Xbox 360 SKUs will receive a $50 price drop by the week of Sept. 7, making the 60GB model $299 and the Elite $399 -- meanwhile, the Arcade will drop $80 to $199.

RE: Xbox 360 Price Cuts Sept 7th Confirmedi think when the arcade was at the price point of 280$ and pro was 350$, the arcade wasn't a very good value. but at the price of 200$ and 300$, the arcade is a very viable option considering the 60gb hard drive can be had for 100$ with headset and 3 months of Live.

This is getting interesting. Will the new price of Arcade cause increase of X360 H/W (increase total pie), or will the bigger price difference made the arcade getting bigger percentage of X360 share, without increasing X360 H/W (cannibalizing Pro & Elite sales) ?
Will this new price cut cause Entertainment Division's latest fiscal year to became a loss, instead of profit ?
Will $199 X360 cause $250 Wii H/W to drop constantly (lower monthly average) ? or will it be something like what happened to GC when it drop it's price to $99 (only temporary increase of #) ?

agreed. having a version of the console on market at the "magic number" of $200 - which costs less than the wii and is in stock - should theoretically drive more sales.
