In which way is it continuing to grow? It had fantastic opening numbers and since then it has completely dropped off. MMO's tend to have long legs but my point in stating that it was no longer in the top 10/20's in various regions is that this does not.
Its being beat by first person shooters like CoD4 and HL2: Orange Box, which generally tend to have shorter legs, and these games have been out for nearly a year. There is no way they are still selling in quantities large enough to beat reasonable AoC sales that would be needed to reach our prediction (still, after the drop). Which has to be taken that sales have ground to a near enough halt in the regions i stated i had chart data for.
At this point in time given, that it SHIPPED over 1 million but only has 700k registered users, sales have completely tailed off and when it releases in Asia it is likely to be swept beneath the crowd. I would predict 1-1.5 million, depending on level of success in Asia.
I confess I am sceptical but the Subscriber base is growing and continues to grow. The last I head it was around 700k which for its current life is respectable. Will it continue to maintain this subscriber base going forward with more Blizzard creations on the horizon, who knows.
I think Asia is important what I do not understand is given the importance of Asia is why they make them wait until 2009.
As I see it these are lifetime sales and we have some way to go in its cycle. The subscriber numbers which seem to pop up more readily than sales numbers would seem to indicate this product has some legs even if it cannot make its way into the charts as much we would like. The problem with subscriber numbers is they are not true sales but hey ho it is a measure.
(i will also copy and paste this into the AoC listing)
-There is no Age of Conan in the top 10 American/Canadian weekly sales charts as of August 23rd. -Age of Conan only reached number 15 in NPD's July PC sales charts (Source) -There is no Age of Conan in the top 20 UK weekly sales charts as of August 30th. (Source) -There is no Age of Conan in Irelands top 20 weekly charts (Source) -In Denmark it was number 10 although was place 16 the previous week (Source)
Basically it is being beaten by year old FPS's that generally have short legs, this has even less. It is seriously overpriced imo, unless Asia can pull off some spectacular numbers.
