It is in Nintendo's interest to pro-long life of time of DS, one of their most successful portable ever. Nintendo will only release NEW DS (not just DSL or DSi or DSi LL, but an honest DS2) is AFTER Sony release PSP 2 (not just PSP 2000, 3000, 4000, or PSP Go). Probably one year after PSP 2. I also didn't see Sony releasing PSP 2 in the near future (2010 and 2011), since Sony are probably more focused on nurturing their PS3 sales.
Same thing are happening for PS3, X360 and Wii console, with their prolonged (compared to previous generation) Life shelf.
