During Sony's CES conference in Las Vegas tonight, SCE president Kaz Hirai announced the company sold 3.8 million PlayStation 3 consoles worldwide during the five week period in December 2009.
North American sales reached 1.7 million units for December 2009. For comparison sake, U.S. sales in November 2009 totaled 710,000 units sold. December U.S. NPD results, due out next week, should put Sony well over 1 million units sold for the month.
