NPD's monthly public report on video game software and hardware sales in the US will change this month. The most noticeable alteration will be the removal of hardware and software unit sales. The company will still provide a monthly list of the top ten selling "physical purchases" (i.e. brick-and-mortar retail) on consoles, but by title and not by individual platform SKUs -- meaning multi-platorm games will be clumped in one sum.

Thanks. We can cash out Halo: Reach at 330 DKP and Metroid: Other M at 17.3 DKP. Unless we get an Xbox 360 specific number for Madden NFL 11, which I think is unlikely, we'll have to roll that one back. Super Mario Galaxy 2 didn't make the top 10 at all so it'll have to be rolled back.[ Admin ]bids

And I forgot to post that the 360 has now outsold the wii YTD in 2010 in the US. I do expect MSFT to have a great xmas but the Wii usually goes huge in Nov Dec so could be interesting to see if MSFT can finally knock off the champ[ Veteran ] [ Level 23 ] [ Rank: 30 ]bids

I stand corrected its Sony bringing down NPD. Nintendo and MSFT both released Sept hardware numbers Sony didn't.
"Citing NPD figures, Microsoft said it sold 484,000 of the consoles, up 37% year-over-year.
Nintendo, meanwhile, sold 403,000 of its handheld DS systems in the U.S., and 254,000 Wii consoles. Sony would not disclose how many PlayStations it sold."[ Veteran ] [ Level 23 ] [ Rank: 30 ]bids

Hey SIM admin- I bet MSFT will keep releasing numbers so you should keep that future up, I can't imagine they don't release Halo numbers either. I also think Sony will release sales data as the PS3 is doing much better than a year ago. Subscribers are still allowed to release numbers regarding their own products; however, this negates our ability to do Monthly Sales Futures that are based on NPD data. We will hold the futures and see if NPD reverses this policy. If not, we will roll them back.[ Admin ]bids
