Sony announced this morning that it shipped over 8 million units of the Move controller to retailers worldwide as of April 3. The company also noted that the PlayStation Move "ecosystem," which includes the PS Eye, Move navigation controller and Move-friendly software, "continues to see strong momentum at retail." After only a month on the market the 3DS has lost it's spot in the Japan handheld market to the PSP. The 3DS fell behind the PSP by a margin of about 15,000 units.
What's more, according to a report from Japanese news site Inside Games, only around 836,000 3DS units have been sold in Japan so far -- a little over half of the initial Japanese shipment.

BioWare today confirmed Dragon Age II has sold - not shipped - over 1 million copies worldwide in less than two weeks.
To celebrate, the BioWare is offering fans that purchased the game the option of receiving the PC version of Mass Effect 2 for free. Later this month, IGN is launching the first season of its new eSports Pro League with an invitational tournament featuring combatants from top North American StarCraft II clans. A total of 16 players from nine different clans have been selected.Contestants will duke it out over the course of eight brutal days and compete for $5,000 in prizes and four automatic qualifier spots for the second IPL season. As a result of the recent earthquake in Japan, the NGP handheld may not make the holiday 2011 release window worldwide. "It may be the straw that says 'maybe we get to just one market by the end of the year,'" SCEA president Jack Tretton told Bloomberg, suggesting that Sony may opt to stagger production of the handheld and release it in just one territory this year.
