Netflix Backs Blu-Ray Exclusively, Good for PS3

he HD-DVD format by took another blow Monday as online video-rental giant Netflix pledged to offer high-definition DVD's only in the rival Blu-ray format. In a statement, Netflix said it based its decision on the fact that four of the six major studios are going give exclusive backing to Blu-ray, made by Sony. It plans to phase out its offering of HD-DVD disks, from Toshiba, by the end of the year

80GB PS3 with Motorstorm for $599 in August

According to the article, Sony spokesman David Karakker announced the new PLAYSTATION 3 SKU which has an 80GB hard disk and bundled with Motorstorm. This new pack will cost $599, effectively replacing the 60GB SKU which has all but confirmed to be sold at $499 soon. This new SKU will be available by August in US and Canada

Nintendo of America Vice President of Marketing George Harrison expects the current console lifecycle to extend beyond the traditional five years and he fully believes that Nintendo will be in complete control with potentially over 50 percent of the market. He also had some harsh words for Sony and Microsoft.

This is simply a beautiful game, and it's provided more than a few moments where I completely forgot where the hell I was supposed to be going while riding over golden hills at sunset or through the desert in the middle of a nighttime lightning storm. It doesn't quite convey the loneliness of the real empty spaces, but does compress the essence of all the varieties of land and weather native to those parts into a few hundred miles ride

Sales for the quarter were led by "Red Dead Redemption," which launched in May and has sold more than 6.9 million units. The company also said that catalog sales helped the period, including sales from its blockbuster "Grand Theft Auto" and "NBA 2K"
