Nintendo 3DS and Historical Handheld Pricing

Gamespot - January 30, 2011

Taking a trip down memory lane with Nintendo's previous handhelds we see one basic trend. If we throw out the outlier that is the Virtual Boy, Nintendo largely stuck to sub-$100 price points until the Nintendo DS was released. At that point the company moved up to the $150 and $170 ranges, with the DSi XL at $190. The Game Boy Micro was an update to the Game Boy Advance, hence its lower price point.

The shocking moments, the gruesome deaths, and the fun of playing through this experience again and again are what I took away from this one. Dead Space 2 is an excellent game, and it's well worth your time and money.

Specially marked copies of Killzone 3 (the ones with SOCOM dog tags) will include a code for SOCOM 4's multiplayer beta. Seems like a pretty fair deal, and one that'll surely prove tempting for SOCOM fans.

Speaking with NowGamer, Valve's Chet Falizek explained that while the level editing tools for the game are limited to the PC version, "the content that comes out is agnostic, and so we will be seeing that on all the platforms."
