PlayStation Vita will launch worldwide "by the end of 2011," and will arrive in two models starting at $249. SCE detailed the two separate PSV models as a 3G/Wi-Fi version running $299/€299/¥29,980, and a Wi-Fi-only model for $249/ €249/¥24,980.

It's not exactly the world's best kept secret, is it? Sony's next handheld officially became the "PlayStation Vita" this afternoon at the company's E3 2011 press conference. And you can stop pronouncing it "Vite-Uh," as Sony Computer Entertainment head Kaz Hirai repeatedly pronounced it "Veeta." Hazaa!

Xbox! Live TV! This fall, Xbox 360 will be getting content from a variety of US-based and international television providers, all searchable through Microsoft's Bing service, Microsoft announced this morning during its E3 press conference.

Right from the start, Heart of the Swarm feels different than Wings of Liberty. Kerrigan is basically a monster goddess who can control millions of Zerg units (a.k.a. Swarm). This time around Blizzard wanted to give players that sense of absolute power. If Kerrigan tells her Zerg to die for her, they don’t get upset, they say “How many?” Now players will feel that responsibility of being the Queen of Blades.

Blizzard recently unveiled information concerning their new followers system designed to provide more story for solo-gamers among other things. Your followers are skilled warriors in their own right, so it’s only proper that they grow in power as they’re pitted against increasingly deadly foes. They’ll gain experience as you fight together, change visually as you provide them with new equipment, and you'll be able to choose new skills for them as they level up.

April NPDs: Mortal Kombat and Xbox 360 the Top Sellers

Mortal Kombat was the best selling game in the month of April, according to the latest figures released by the NPD Group. It sold nearly 900,000 units between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. Portal 2 was the next best-selling game, although no specific numbers for Valve's latest game were cited. That's just as well, as the game undoubtedly sold a great deal through Steam, the numbers from which would not be included in the NPDs.

Nintendo has officially announced an impending price drop for the Wii. As of May 15 (confirming our earlier report), the Wii will be sold at a suggested retail price of $149.99, and will come bundled with Mario Kart Wii and the Wii Wheel accessory. The new price applies to both black and white system models.

Sony admits PSN failure: your personal data has been stolen

Sony has finally come clean about the "external intrusion" that has caused the company to take down the PlayStation Network service, and the news is almost as bad as it can possibly get. The hackers have all your personal information, although Sony is still unsure about whether your credit card data is safe. Everything else on file when it comes to your account is in the hands of the hackers.
